Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships (online)

Mooney, James L.; Naval Historical Center, et al. Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships (online). Washington, DC: U.S. Department of the Navy : Naval Historical Center,

This is an online version of the eight-volume version of DANFS, published by the US Government, and available in many libraries. Most entries are reproductions of what appears in the print version; a few, however, have been updated.

This is a directory of all main entries; it doesn't include mentions of vessels in entries other than their main entry. (So, for instance, it doesn't indicate that Nevada (BB-36) or Oklahoma (BB-37) are mentioned in the entry for Arizona (BB-39), it just links to all three entries.)
